MEAK is very happy to provide an update on the building works that have been occurring at the JM Goodhope Academy, a rural, co-educational, infant, primary and junior secondary school for 242 local, and often very disadvantaged children.
MEAK has supported the school in numerous ways over the last few years, from drilling a borehole that supplied clean water for drinking and agriculture projects, to providing a huge shipment of supplies including sports equipment, laptop computers and musical instruments.
The Dining / Assembly Hall has been completed and furnished and everyone at the school is thrilled. The new building was immediately put to good use, for a variety of functions, including school assemblies, concerts, musical practice and, of course, as the dining hall.
The two-storey classroom block was also completed in January, giving the school four new, bright and airy classrooms, a teacher’s office and a secure storeroom. These have dramatically enhanced the teaching atmosphere and promoted enhanced pride within both teachers and pupils
These projects have been a huge success and a source of enormous joy to all involved. MEAK would like to thank all its donors and collaborators who helped make these happen. A big shout out also to MEAK’s Alex Thiru, for all his coordination and communication efforts, and for his photos of these very worthy projects.
